Usually the limiting component on an FPV aircraft for long-range flight is the battery. In the past, I have used four 5000 mAh 3S batteries in parallel to power a CrashTestHobby Hercules wing to over five miles one-way. Although this setup works great, the number of batteries and connectors required to hook up a four battery setup isn’t ideal, and adds noticeable weight to the aircraft.

RangeVideo is now offering a battery that could be the best LiPo battery for long distance FPV flying. Since the battery is made up of two 5000 mAh 3S batteries in parallel, you don’t have to worry about soldering on connectors or making a parallel harness to connect to your FPV aircraft’s wiring scheme. This should also save some weight as well, since extra bulky XT-60 connectors are not required to wire up the two internal 5000 mAh LiPos.
Even the best LiPo battery is roughly the same size as a lesser quality version, so the real improvement of this design is the internal parallel connection between the two 5000 mAh batteries.
I haven’t tried this pack myself yet, but this battery is the best candidate I have found to replace my 4 x 5000 mAh 3S setup. If you come across a cheaper 10000 mAh 3S 2P LiPo let me know.
