I recently received this question via email:
I want to use goggles sometimes and a monitor at other times. Can I do this using the same receiver? I want to use a Fat Shark or ImmersionRC receiver, but I don’t know how it will work with a monitor as well as the goggles. Thanks, G
Yes, it’s definitely possible to use multiple display devices from the same video receiver, and even from a goggle mounted receiver.
You’ll need to plug-in an RCA cable to the AV out port on the side of the goggles, then run this to a signal splitter/bus such as this. Plug in all your display devices (even a video recorder) to the AV out ports on the bus, and you’re all set.
What if I want to use two receivers?
This usually comes up when you want to selectively use both an omnidirectional antenna and a higher-gain directional antenna during the same flight. You’ll need to use separate receivers for each antenna.
If you want to use two receivers, you’re going to need an RCA splitter to select which receiver will send the output signal to the display devices.
These RCA splitters are very cheap, and available even at Walmart.
Here’s a link to the one that I use:
3-Way Audio Video AV RCA Switch Selector Box Splitter For XBOX XBOX360 DVD PS2 PS3 with AV Cable
A simple flick of the selector bar will change the video input going to your display/recording devices.
